I was born and raised in the Ruhr area (Germany). In 1987, I finished my training as a nurse. Subsequently, I worked as a surgical nurse until I passed the Matura on the second educational path. I finished my studies of human medicine in 1999 with the state examination. Afterwards, I was trained as a specialist in anaesthesiology and simultaneously as a pain therapist in Germany and Switzerland (teaching hospital of the University of Essen, University Hospital Zurich, Cantonal Hospital Sursee).

In the meantime I can look back on more than fifteen years of working experience as an emergency physician and gained a certificate of competence in emergency medicine. In 2008, I completed the course for the additional qualification: Special Pain Therapy. In 2011, I also specialized in interventional pain therapy (SSIPM certificate and headache treatment). In 2017, I finished my studies at the University of Vienna with the degree Master of Science in interdisciplinary pain medicine.

 

After having worked as a senior physician in anaesthesia- and pain medicine at the Cantonal Hospitals of Baden, Schwyz, Winterthur and Zug, I largely retired from anaesthesia in 2015 and subsequently worked as a senior physician in pain therapy at the Bethesda Hospital Basel and also as an attending physician at the Pain Clinic Basel.

 

Since January 2020 I am practicing my extended activity as a self-employed pain therapist with my team at the Dufourstrasse in Basel.
